School Performance

The performance of a school is measured in a number of ways:

pupil attainment and achievement at Key Stage 2 (Year 6)

  • pupil progress between Key Stage 1 (Year 2) and Key Stage 2 (Year 6)
  • achievement at the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception)
  • results of the Year 1 phonics test
  • attendance

KEY STAGE 2

At the end of Key Stage 2, Year 6 children are assessed in English, Mathematics and Science.  National tests take place for reading and Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation.  Science and writing are assessed by class teachers.  The expected Level by the end of Year 6 is Level 4.  This is the level against which attainment in all schools is measured.

Headlines for 2014

Percentage of Key Stage 2 pupils achieving level 4 or above

  • 73% of pupils achieved Level 4+ in Reading, Writing and Mathematics (National : 79%)
  • 79% of pupils achieved Level 4+ in Mathematics (National : 86%)
  • 89% of pupils achieved Level 4+ in Reading (National : 89%)
  • 79% of pupils achieved Level 4+ in Writing (National : 85%)
  • 69% of pupils achieved Level 4+ in Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (National : 76%)
  • Average Point Score 27.1


KEY STAGE 1

At the end of Key Stage 1, Year 2 children are assessed in English, Mathematics and Science.  Teachers’ assessment are informed by tests and ongoing assessments of children’s work in reading, writing, mathematics and science.  The results of the Key Stage 1 tests are not published nationally but we have made them available via the link below.

  • 95% of pupils achieved Level 2+ in Writing (National : 86%)
