Reception Stay and Play

This week in Reception, parents were invited to spend an afternoon with their child in class to take part in activities based around the story 'Kitchen Disco'. We had a fantastic turn out and would like to thank all the parents and family members who made time to come along. The children were really excited and thoroughly enjoyed having their families in their classroom. Feedback has been really positive, comments made were:

"It was great to see how the children play together as a class and how confident they were."

"An introduction to my child's friends was the highlight."

"I enjoyed seeing my child engaging in her school environment."

"It was interesting to see how I can bond with my child by doing similar activities at home."

"Stay and Play is an excellent way for parents to share in their child's education."

We made a thank you card and a special lollipop stick for Nick our Lollipop Man!- Difference Day

Our trip to Blackpool Zoo

Thank you to all the parents who joined us for our Maths afternoon.

They said :

"We had fun doing the activities together, I love the whole idea and have taken away lots of ideas"

"It made the children feel very happy to show the parents all the activites they do in the classroom"

"It was a fantastic opportunity for parents to see different ways to learn Maths, I was really impressed with the different games"

" I really had a good time, it was very useful fun and interactive"

Reception Ingleson's trip to Pizza Express - we had an amazing morning and our pizza was delicious!

Reception loved coming to school dressed up as their favourite book characters.  We had mermaids, peter pan, pirates, fantastic Mr Fox, footballers, princesses, superheroes and many more!  They all brought along a book to share and we had a super day sharing so many different stories.

The Tiger Came To Tea!

After reading the story The Tiger Who Came To Tea, Reception Anderson decided to have their very own 'tea party' and thought it would be a great idea to write invitations in the hope that the tiger would join them.

"We couldn't believe it when he came!"

We had a such great day today - we couldn't believe how much it snowed! It was a perfect addition to our Winter / Frozen theme.

We put on our Winter clothes and we couldn't wait to explore outside in the snow.

We built our own snowman, we of course named him 'Olaf'!

We loved singing one of our new favourite songs -

"Marching in the snow, marching in the snow,

making footprints as we go,

marching left, marching right,

knees up off we go marching in the snow!"

Some quotes from the children -

"This is amazing!"

"I cannot believe it is on my gloves - my gloves are all wet"

"I feel so happy!"

"I felt like Elsa it felt like I had the Elsa power!"

"I like the snow because it has a secret because it looks just like snow but if you get a magnifying glass you can see the little crystals."

Our Trip to Mosam Bakery

Reception really enjoyed their trip to Mosam Bakery today.  We were able to see what happens behind the scenes at a real bakery.  We were taken into the kitchen and shown where all the ingredients are mixed together, before they are put in their HUGE ovens to bake.  We then went into the decorating room and saw all the different toppings they use to decorate their beautiful cakes.  We were very lucky to all be able to take a cake back to school with us!  We had an amazing time!

Reception Ingleson have LOVED looking after our new hens this week, so today we thought we would tell them a story about a hen called Rosie.

We have used talk for writing to help us learn the story Rosie's Walk.  This week we have been busy reading the story and learning the actions and next week we will make our own story maps; using the actions we have learnt to help us.  We can then use our story maps so we can retell the story!
