Year 3

Welcome to Year 3. Our Year 3 teachers are Ms Ross, Ms Melbourne and Miss Meenagh.

Friday 8th July 2016 - Difference Day

Today was a really special day where we were thinking about how we could make a difference to ourselves, our society or our world.

The Year 3 children were supporting the global campaign 'Send my friend to School' where we were finding out about other children in the world, mainly in countries suffering from war or natural disasters, and the lives that they have.

It was sad to find out that many of these children had to flee their homes with little or no belongings and start a new life in a country where they may not speak the language. There were many success stories too were some of the children were able to attend school despite suffering from a physical disability.

Paired Reading in Class

Have a look at the children from 3M sharing their favourite books. Look how animated they are when reading to someone and how carefully they listen.

Pre-Historic Britain

Our history topic this term is all about pre-historic history - Stone Age to Iron Age Britain.

We have learnt about the changes in peoples lives starting from the Stone Age through the Bronze Age and ending with life in the Iron Age.

We have also learnt about Stone Age art and had the opportunity to create our own cave paintings.

We also designed our own pots in the style of the Beaker People.

The children have been doing some work on the Titanic.  This year we have tried something new.  The children interviewed each other taking turns to be a survivor, interviewer or camera person.  Here are some of our interviews.  We hope you enjoy them.
