British Values
Promoting Fundamental British Values.
In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain.
Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.
The Key Values are:
• democracy
• rule of law
• individual liberty
• mutual respect
• tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
Kings Road Primary, Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Curriculum.
At Kings Road Primary we believe that everyone is special and everyone is important, “we are all part of team KR.” The children understand and respect the roles of people who help them, and know the importance of rules and laws in order to keep everybody safe and happy within school, the community and the wider world. They understand right from wrong, and are encouraged to accept responsibility for their behaviour, show initiative and to understand how they can contribute positively to the lives of others.
We aim to ensure that our children are educated to develop spiritually, academically, emotionally, morally, socially and culturally so they are able to better understand themselves and others, and to cope with the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities of living in modern Britain and a multicultural world. We value and celebrate the diversity of the school community, and promote positive images of people in the wider community, including their beliefs, traditions, culture, language and history. Through their learning children ask questions, think deeply, debate and discuss ideas in a safe environment, that will develop their curiosity. They listen to, acquire an appreciation for, and develop a mutual respect and tolerance of other people’s beliefs and values, recognising that everyone has the right and freedom to choose their faith including those without faith, beliefs, likes and dislikes. They know how to build good relationships with people from a wide range of ethnicities, backgrounds, beliefs and cultures.
Children at Kings Road are taught to develop their self-knowledge, self –esteem and self-confidence so they are prepared for the next stages of their lives within modern Britain and the wider world.
