UNICEF Rights Respecting School

Here at Kings Road we are passionate about children’s wellbeing and their rights within school and wider life. We are aiming to become a rights respecting school to educate children and parents alike on the rights of children.

What is a rights respecting school?

The UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation. The RRSA seeks to put the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of a school’s ethos and culture to improve well-being and develop every child’s talents and abilities to their full potential.

A rights-respecting school is a community where children’s rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted. Young people and the school community learn about children’s rights by putting them into practice every day.

The start of our journey to gold begins by attempting to secure our bronze award, please watch the video below for some more information about the scheme.

We have achieved our Bronze award and working towards Silver.

"Listen to the future. Stand up for children’s rights."

World Children’s Day (20th Nov) is UNICEF’s global day of action for children marking 35 years since the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

This Wednesday 20th November Kings Road will be celebrating World Children’s Day!

We are asking the children to WEAR BLUE TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT. We are also suggesting a £2 donation for UNICEF which can be handed to the class teacher.

World Children’s Day is a global day of action for children, by children! At Kings Road children have been learning about their rights and through working with UNICEF to understand that they are protected through a special United Nations treaty called the ‘Convention on the Rights of the Child’. To mark 35 years of the convention. Kings Road will be supporting UNICEF and celebrating children’s ideas.
