Free school meals
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 automatically qualify for a Free School Meal under the universal scheme, regardless of the qualifying criteria for Free School Meals being met. However, if a parent of a child in any school year (Reception to Year 6) meets the qualifying criteria (usually being in receipt of benefits) for Free School Meals this can raise extra funding for your child’s school in order to help support your child’s learning. If you are unsure as to whether you meet the criteria then please visit the following link which will advise you of the criteria for eligibility;
The universal offer of free school meals for all children in KS1 finishes once the children start Year 3 (KS2). This means that from Year 3 onwards you will be required to pay for your child’s school meals unless you are entitled to free school meals. In order to benefit from free school meals, if you think you are eligible, you will need to head to the following link and complete the free school meals application form;

Once you have completed the application, school will automatically be advised as to whether your child is eligible or not for free school meals.
