It was a fantastic morning at the Kings Road Olympic finals at Longford Park and everyone, including those watching, were excellent. Well done to all those who took part and won medals!
Sports' Day for Years 3 and 4 was a great success today. The children really enjoyed taking part in every activity. Thank you to all the parents that came to watch.
The Jubilee celebration picnic was enjoyed by all staff and children on Friday. The atmosphere was great with the sun shining and everyone smiling and dancing away!
Platinum Jubilee Events
During our half term holidays, the celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee are due to take place. Queen Elizabeth II has been on the British throne for 70 years which is longer than any other British monarch. At Kings Road we think this is something to celebrate and therefore we have a number of things planned.
Holiday Homework
The whole school has the same ‘talking’ homework during the holidays. We would like the children to watch some of the events celebrating the Platinum Jubilee on television (or live if anything is happening near you) and discuss it with an adult. What can we see? Why is it happening? How do you think everyone is feeling? Who are the people involved? If anyone wants to do more, you could produce an non chronological report on the event.
First week back after the holidays 13/6 – 17/6
After the holidays each year group has been given a decade of the Queen’s reign to investigate and explore. We plan to produce a giant timeline in the old hall. The week will finish with a whole school picnic and celebration assembly, out on the field on the Friday afternoon. We will be asking the children to
• bring in a small plate of food for themselves to enjoy during the picnic (not for sharing)
• wear red, white and blue
We are holding a further own clothes day on Friday 27th May to raise funds for a charity called 'War Child', which supports children affected by conflict in other parts of the world. We are asking for a minimum donation of £1.00.
Hi Everyone,
I would like to say a huge thank you to you all for being amazing when Strider came to visit us! We all had an amazing time and it was lovely to see the children (and adults!) get so excited. We had a fab day and I was blown away by how passionate we are as a school to make these small changes to keep our Earth healthy and safe.
I would also like to say a huge thank you to Paul and Simon from Living Streets and Mary (parent) who came and gave our children a brilliant assembly explaining the importance of walking and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Thank you for all your support and don't forget about our competition, you still have a couple of days to send me your photos of an unusual plant, flower or tree!
